Diane Arbus

Image
Diane Arbus was  born on March 14th, 1923 in New York City. Diane was an interesting photographer because she took photos of things out of the ordinary such as dwarfs, kids with disabilities and transgender people. Because of this she was often criticized. She would later commit suicide on July 26th, 1971 due to mental health issues. I find her work interesting because I feel like she addressed the elephant in the room and acknowledge these kinds of people. Her work would be recognized later on by many people. Maybe I and others need to take a closer look at them and figure out their mysteries. Sources: https://www.artsy.net/artist/william-eggleston http://www.egglestontrust.com/

For my first photographer I would talk about would be Ansel Adams. Ansel Adams is on of the most well known photographers out there. He was well known for photos such as, Monolith the face of Half Dome and On the Heights. Adams photos consist of untouched wilderness and nature. The reason why he took these photos was because he was an environmentalist and wanted to protect the land by capturing its beauty. Which in turn, helped the environmental movement. Adams had used a wide range of filters when setting up his shots such as yellow filters to help make the grey come out as well as red filters to darken up the sky to make the subject stand out. Taking a look at Adams photos, I really appreciate his photos of nature because it really captures the beauty of nature and makes us think that we as humans should do what we can to keep our environment clean. Fun fact: Ansel considered himself more of a musician then a photographer. He played the piano. "I hope my work will encourage
