Ansel Adams

For my first photographer I would talk about would be Ansel Adams. Ansel Adams is on of the most well known photographers out there. He was well known for photos such as, Monolith the face of Half Dome and On the Heights. Adams photos consist of untouched wilderness and nature. The reason why he took these photos was because he was an environmentalist and wanted to protect the land by capturing its beauty. Which in turn, helped the environmental movement. Adams had used a wide range of filters when setting up his shots such as yellow filters to help make the grey come out as well as red filters to darken up the sky to make the subject stand out. Taking a look at Adams photos, I really appreciate his photos of nature because it really captures the beauty of nature and makes us think that we as humans should do what we can to keep our environment clean.

Fun fact: Ansel considered himself more of a musician then a photographer. He played the piano.

"I hope my work will encourage self expression in others and stimulate the search for beauty and creative excitement in the great world around us"

-Ansel Adams
